It is speculated that Jeep will soon come up with a three-row seat version of the two-row Grand Cherokee.Readers might not nod their heads in agreement after seeing this headline, knowing full well it denotes the appearance of another crossover on the avenues and byways of America, but Volkswagen would respectfully disagree. Even other carmakers have been following this similar route as Volkswagen, making pairings like Honda Pilot and Passport, Ford Explorer and Edge, and Audi Q7 and Audi Q8. The Atlas Cross sport is nothing but a compact and sportier version of the mid-size SUV. The seven-seat Atlas buyers need a three-row seating that would make their big family easily settled in the car. The Atlas Cross Sport attracts three kinds of buyers: Small families, youngsters, and empty-nesters. It is great to see that two vehicles coming out of the same facility and segment, are making sense with a straightforward idea. The 2021 VW Atlas has introduced the R-Line package with SEL Premium trim(V6/AWD powertrain). Notably, Volkswagen does not offer an R-Line package with the 2020 Atlas SEL Premium, so it goes cheaper than the Cross Sport with a price tag of $50,215. On the other hand, the top-spec 2020 Atlas Cross Sport SEL Premium R-Line with the V-6 engine and all-wheel drive comes with a price sticker of $50,815. The base Atlas Cross Sport S with 2.0T engine and front-wheel-drive costs $31,565, while the 7-seater Atlas S with the same engine is priced at $32,565. It comes with no surprise that the lighter and smaller Atlas Cross Sport is less expensive than the regular 2020 VS Atlas models. 2020 VW Atlas VS 2020 VW Atlas Cross Sport: Pricing Differences The Cross Sport still manages to offer a good amount of luggage room than most of its competitors like Jeep Grand Cherokee, Honda Passport, and Ford Edge. The Cross Sport’s trunk is 15 inches smaller at 40.3 cubic feet compared to regular Atlas in two-row mode after putting down the third-row seat. The red and black color combination used inside the Atlas Cross sport is simply elegant and marvelous.Ģ020 VW Atlas Cross Sport offers 77.8 cubic feet cargo space with 2nd row put down Volkswagen has decorated the interior with nicely stitched upholstery. With everything on the outside, we are pretty convinced that the Atlas Cross Sport is made for a different set of buyers, either young or small family-oriented Atlas buyers. 2020 VW Atlas VS 2020 VW Atlas Cross Sport: Interior Comparison Interestingly, the 2021 VW atlas that was unveiled at the 2020 Chicago Auto Show gets updated styling with resemblance of Cross Sport. The low roofline and long-wheelbase combination have worked well for Volkswagen in making the Atlas Cross Sport and aesthetic crossover. The lower roofline helps in the reduction of DLO (Day Light Opening for side windows) that makes the Atlas’s profile sleeker and family-oriented like Audi Q8. Both the SUVs are developed at the same Volkswagen's Chattanooga facility. The wheelbase remains the same at 117.3-inches, a smart decision by VW to save some extra manufacturing cost. The Cross Sport gets a lower and impressive coupe-like roofline along with steeply raked rear back glass. Volkswagen has trimmed 5.2 inches of length from the 7-seat Atlas to make the Cross Sport version. The Cross Sport is essentially a shortened Atlas. 2020 VW Atlas Cross Sport SEL V6 with 20-inch wheels
